Walking Tour to Skaros Rock
from Fira, Firostefani, Imerovigli

Fira – Firostefani - Imerovigli – Skaros - Fira
We will walk along the picturesque path from Fira to Firostefani and then to Imerovigli passing by Santozeum, the Cable Car road, Nomikos Conference Center, St. Gerasim church of Firostefani and St. Nicolas Monastery at Imerovigli. We’ll stop for a while at St. George Church, the closest high point to Skaros.
Half an hour walk down and a little bit up will bring us to Skaros base and we’ll step on the historic land.
Skaros used to be the capital of the island during the Venetian rule. We’ll walk along the medieval stairs to reach the other side of the rock.
Right beneath our feet you will notice the church of Panagia Theoskepasti (“Hidden by the God”). We can walk down towards it to admire this modest temple and the immense blue sea from a different angle.
We will return then to Imerovigli from where we will get on a minivan that will take us back to Fira/Firostefani.
