Ancient Thira – Pyrgos - prehistoric town of Akrotiri – Emborio castle

 

This is a tour for history lovers. Just in one day we will show you the most of the historical places of Santorini. The tour is not easy but very impressing.

Our first point is the ruins of Ancient Thira. We will get on the top of Mesa Vouno mountain (by minivan) where King Thiras has established his colony in 9th century B.C. We will walk along the city with breathtaking views of Kamari, Perissa and the sea. The planes are flying lower than where you will be walking!

Next point is a traditional village of Pyrgos that once used to be the capital of the island. Time to visit the most ancient town of the island! The best preserved prehistoric town of bronze age in Europe, Akrotiri, is waiting for you to discover its history. Most of the scientists now come to conclusion that Akrotiri used to be a part of Atlantis. You have a chance to visit a highly developed society of that period! Walk along the town streets, admire two and three storey houses, breath the air of a town flourishing back in 1640 B.C.!

The final point of our tour is a medieval castle-village of Emborio. For many of you this place will be the most surprising on the whole island!
